Android users rejoice as Google rolls out a long-awaited feature on the Play Store, enabling simultaneous downloads of two apps. This enhancement promises to streamline the app downloading experience , eliminating the tedious process of waiting for one app to finish before starting another.

Initially reported by 9toGoogle, this feature is currently restricted to new app downloads and is limited to two apps simultaneously. Attempts to download more than two apps will result in queued downloads until one of the initial two completes installation.

In comparison, Apple's App Store for iOS devices supports simultaneous downloads of up to three apps, as noted by 9to5Google. However, this new capability does not extend to app updates at present.

The update has been observed on various Pixel devices and tablets running Android 14 with version 40.6.31. There are speculations that Google might expand the simultaneous download limit in future updates.

Anticipation builds for Google's annual developer conference, Google I/O , slated for May 14th. Expectations are high for announcements ranging from new Pixel smartphones to updates across Google's suite of products, including Maps, Search, Android, and advancements in their AI assistant, Gemini.

Rumours suggest that Android 15, codenamed "Vanilla Ice Cream," will introduce a "Find My Device" feature akin to Apple's, facilitating smartphone tracking in cases of theft or loss, even when the device is powered off. Additionally, Android 15 is rumoured to include a "Sensitive Notification" feature, preventing harmful apps from accessing One-time-passwords (OTPs) automatically.

As Google continues to innovate and refine its Android ecosystem , users can anticipate a smoother, more secure mobile experience in the near future.
