Google Raises YouTube Premium Subscription Costs: New Rates Effective Immediately

Google has significantly increased the subscription rates for YouTube Premium in India , with certain plans seeing price hikes of up to 58%. The price adjustments affect the student, individual, and family plans, and the new rates have already come into effect. Current subscribers are receiving email notifications about the changes, urging them to accept the new pricing to continue their subscriptions.


Google mentioned in the communication that, “These decisions are not made lightly, and this adjustment will enable us to continue enhancing Premium and supporting the creators and artists on YouTube.”

The monthly cost for the YouTube Premium student plan has risen from Rs 79 to Rs 89, reflecting a 12.6% increase. The individual monthly subscription has been raised from Rs 129 to Rs 149, marking a 15% hike.


The most substantial increase is seen in the family monthly plan, which has jumped from Rs 189 to Rs 299—a steep 58% rise. This plan accommodates up to five members under a single subscription.

In addition, the prices for individual prepaid plans have also been revised. The monthly, quarterly, and annual prepaid options now cost Rs 159, Rs 459, and Rs 1,490, respectively. These new rates apply to both new and existing Premium subscribers.


Subscribers to YouTube Premium enjoy benefits such as ad-free viewing, high-bitrate streaming at 1080p, offline downloads, background playback, and ad-free access to YouTube Music.
