Instagram is currently in the testing phase for a potential new feature called " Flipside ," aimed at allowing users to create private posts exclusively visible to selected individuals or close friends. The Meta-owned photo and video-sharing platform has initiated testing within a limited group and contemplates expanding the feature to a broader user base.

While Instagram Head Adam Mosseri remains uncertain about the official launch of the feature, the company is actively gauging user responses to the trial.

As reported by The Standard, Flipside is designed to empower users by providing a separate space for private posts, offering control over who can access these posts. This space is intended for users who desire to share more personal content exclusively with close friends and family.

The practice of maintaining a separate account, often referred to as a "f insta " or fake Insta, for sharing content exclusively with close connections is common on Instagram. With the potential introduction of the Flipside feature, users may be able to replicate this practice on their primary accounts, posting pictures and videos visible only to selected users.

In addition to private posts, Instagram is reportedly considering allowing users to customize their Flipside profile picture, name, and bio, creating an experience similar to managing a separate account. Currently accessible to select users, the Flipside feature is expected to be gradually rolled out to all users in the coming weeks.

This move mirrors a similar functionality already available for Instagram stories, where users can upload stories visible solely to chosen individuals designated as close friends, identified by a green circle. The anticipated Flipside feature is poised to offer a comparable level of control and privacy for regular posts.
