Zoom has officially launched its highly anticipated Workplace AI collaboration tool, following its initial announcement in March. The company boasts that "Zoom Workplace helps businesses enhance collaboration with a plethora of new features and an improved user experience across Meetings , Team Chat, Spaces, and beyond," all powered by cutting-edge generative AI technology.

Users can now access the Zoom Workplace app , available for download free of charge from the company’s official website.

One of the standout solutions offered by Zoom Workplace is its AI companion , now included with select subscription plans at no extra cost. This feature introduces innovative capabilities such as a revamped meeting tab experience, consolidating all necessary assets in one convenient location. Additionally, users who have integrated their accounts with Zoom calendar or third-party calendar services can expect enhanced collaboration experiences.

The Zoom AI companion brings forth a range of functionalities, including a generative AI assistant capable of automatically summarising meetings, completing sentences, and facilitating quick scheduling by detecting intent in chat conversations and autofilling meeting details.

In the pipeline are further enhancements, with Zoom poised to introduce generative AI-powered virtual backgrounds and an enhanced digital assistant named "ask AI companion."

Moreover, the latest iteration of Zoom Workplace offers users a choice of four distinct colour themes, including regular dark and light modes, alongside expanded accessibility features such as a personalised toolbar.

The updated user interface of the Zoom Workplace app introduces a new multi-speaker view mode and document collaboration capabilities. Notably, it incorporates image quality enhancement features like portrait lighting, which leverages AI to improve visibility in low-light environments, dynamic reactions enabling users to express themselves with emojis, and personalised audio isolation to ensure clear audio transmission by minimising background noise.
