In an era dominated by digital transactions, the Unified Payments Interface ( UPI ) has emerged as a game-changer in India, facilitating real-time payments with just a phone number or Virtual Payment Address ( VPA ). Apps like Google Pay , PhonePe, and Paytm have played pivotal roles in driving the adoption of UPI, making transactions across the country seamless and speedy.


However, the prevalence of online scams and UPI frauds underscores the importance of securing your UPI transactions. One crucial aspect of this is creating a robust UPI PIN and regularly updating it to thwart potential threats.

Google Pay:

  • Open the Google Pay app.
  • Tap your profile photo at the top right.
  • Select "Bank account."
  • Choose the bank account you wish to modify.
  • Tap "More" and then "Change UPI PIN ."
  • Create a new UPI PIN.
  • Confirm by entering the new PIN again.
PhonePe:

  • Launch the PhonePe app.
  • Tap your profile picture on the home screen.
  • Scroll to the right and select the bank account under "Payment Methods."
  • Tap "Reset UPI PIN."
  • Enter your Debit/ATM card details.
  • Input the 6-digit OTP received via SMS.
  • Enter the 4-digit ATM PIN.
  • Set your new 4 or 6 digit BHIM UPI PIN and confirm.
Paytm:

  • Open the Paytm app.
  • Tap the 'Profile' icon in the top left corner.
  • Scroll down and click on 'Payment Settings.'
  • Select 'UPI & Linked Bank Accounts.'
  • Click 'Change PIN' below the desired bank account.
  • Enter the last 6 digits of your debit card, along with its expiry and validity date.
  • Click 'Proceed.'
  • Enter the old UPI PIN and set a new one.
  • Confirm the process.
