Swiggy, renowned for catering to our culinary cravings, is now catering to our furry friends as well, with the launch of initiatives aimed at assisting in the event of a pet going missing. The food delivery giant has unveiled a new feature within its app aptly named the Swiggy Pawlice .
This feature empowers pet owners to report a missing pet directly on the Swiggy app interface. Notably, this move comes hot on the heels of Swiggy's recent announcement of a Pawternity leave policy for its employees, solidifying its position as a pioneer in pet-friendly corporate initiatives in India.
Rohit Kapoor, CEO of Swiggy Food Marketplace, expressed his sentiments regarding the new feature, stating, "As a pet parent myself, I empathise with the anxiety and distress that accompanies the thought of a beloved pet going missing. While I sincerely hope that such a harrowing experience is never encountered by any fellow pet parent, Swiggy Pawlice is poised to serve as a reliable resource to assist them."

- Leveraging its expansive network of over 3.5 lakh delivery partners , Swiggy mobilises a crucial resource in this programme. Given their extensive time on the road and intermittent breaks, delivery partners are strategically positioned to aid in locating missing pets. Their vigilant presence and mobility have proven invaluable in numerous instances, aiding those in search of their lost companions.
- Should a delivery partner spot a missing pet, they are instructed to promptly notify a dedicated team at Swiggy, providing detailed information and the precise location. It's emphasised that they refrain from attempting to apprehend the pet themselves.
- Swiggy's specialised team swiftly disseminates the information to the pet owner, enabling them to proceed to the location and, optimistically, be reunited with their cherished pet.
- Recognising the paramount importance of reuniting pets with their owners, Swiggy celebrates each successful reunion. Delivery partners who go above and beyond in their efforts are duly acknowledged and rewarded as a token of gratitude for their endeavours.
In conjunction with National Pet Day on April 11, Swiggy unveiled its "Swiggy Paw-ternity Policy" for its full-time employees. This progressive policy encompasses an array of benefits tailored to support employees who are pet parents .
Among its provisions are leave entitlements for the adoption of a pet, the flexibility to work remotely during the initial adjustment period of a new pet, and allowances for time off to attend to a pet's medical needs, whether it be vaccinations, care during illness or injury, or coping with the loss of a beloved pet.
