WhatsApp, the popular messaging platform owned by Meta, continues to enhance its user experience with a range of new features. In a recent update, WhatsApp introduced the much-awaited functionality to edit sent messages on Android devices. Building on this momentum, the platform is now introducing an exciting feature called video messages, available on both Android and iOS. With this addition, users can now share brief video clips of up to 60 seconds directly within the WhatsApp application, further enriching their messaging experience.

The video message feature is now being released to iOS and Android beta testers, as reported by WABetaInfo. This exciting addition to the popular messaging app allows users to share brief 60-second videos with their loved ones. To make use of this feature, iOS users must update to version 23.6.0.73, while Android users need to install version 2.23.8.19 of the app.

"The easiest and quickest method to check if the ability to record a video message is enabled for your WhatsApp account is to tap the microphone button within the chat bar in any conversation: in case it turns into a video camera button, you can already record video messages starting today. When you send or receive a video message, you need to enlarge it by tapping on the video once if you want to listen to the audio, as shown in the attached screenshot. Note that you should ask the recipient to update their version of WhatsApp so they can receive your video messages," mentions the report.

It's important to highlight that video messages on WhatsApp are always protected by end-to-end encryption, which means that no one outside of the conversation, including WhatsApp itself, can access them. While directly forwarding video messages within the app is not possible, you can still save them by utilizing screen recording, as they are not sent using the view once mode.

The feature is currently in beta and is anticipated to be released soon for all users.

WhatsApp channels now available in India
WhatsApp has officially launched the Channels feature in India, introducing an innovative tool for administrators to send one-way broadcasts to users. This feature allows administrators to share text, photos, videos, stickers, and polls with their audience. Additionally, WhatsApp is actively developing a searchable directory to help users discover channels aligned with their interests, such as hobbies, sports teams, and updates from local officials. The aim of this directory is to make it easier for users to find and follow channels that they are interested in. Joining a specific WhatsApp Channel is a simple process as users can click on invite links shared in chats, emails, or posted online.
