WhatsApp is introducing more control to its recently launched instant video messaging feature. Initially, users could send short video messages of up to 60 seconds, but now, a new toggle is being rolled out in the beta updates for Android and iOS.

In WhatsApp beta for iOS version 23.18.1.70 and WhatsApp beta for Android version 2.23.18.21, a toggle has been added to the app's settings. This toggle allows users to manually enable or disable the instant video messaging feature, switching to sending voice messages instead. However, even if the feature is turned off, users will still receive video messages.

Many users have already noticed this feature being turned off, so those who want to send instant video messages should check their WhatsApp settings. To access this new feature , users can download the latest WhatsApp beta for Android from the Google Play Store or WhatsApp beta for iOS from the TestFlight app. It will gradually roll out to more users in the coming days.

WhatsApp recently introduced the ability to record and send short videos as messages. Users can access this feature by tapping the video recorder icon next to the text box, similar to the voice recording feature. These video messages are end-to-end encrypted. By default, the videos play without sound, but users can enable sound by tapping the video again. WhatsApp already offers options for sending images and pre-recorded videos as media attachments in text messages.
