On the same day as Apple 's highly anticipated mixed reality headset launch on February 2, Zoom is poised to introduce its native Vision Pro app. Promising an immersive collaborative experience, Zoom has highlighted key features, emphasising its ability to replicate precise facial and hand movements for a realistic virtual meeting atmosphere.

The Vision Pro app will be free to use, delivering exceptional audio and video quality for a genuine meeting experience. Among its standout features is " Personas ," providing authentic spatial representation. This functionality enables participants to observe accurate facial expressions and hand gestures during virtual interactions.

Zoom asserts that the spatial experience on Vision Pro will generate perfectly scaled avatars, creating the illusion that colleagues and clients are sharing the same physical space. Notably, no additional equipment will be required for these features at the time of launch.

The company has ambitious plans for future updates, intending to introduce 3D object sharing, Zoom team chat, real-world pinning, and more to enhance the native Vision Pro app's capabilities. In a competitive landscape, Microsoft has also entered the fray with its product called Mesh , a platform designed for 3D meetings in Teams , compatible with popular VR headsets like Meta Quest .

While Zoom and Disney are committing to native Vision Pro apps, notable brands such as YouTube, Netflix, and Spotify have opted not to develop specific applications for Vision Pro. However, users can still access these services through the Safari web browser. As the virtual collaboration space evolves, it remains to be seen how these platforms and applications will shape the future of remote interactions.
