ectopic surgerIn a remarkable display of medical fortitude, a 92-year-old woman gave birth to a 60-year-old baby that she had carried within her for over five decades. Tragically, the baby did not survive, as it had developed into a lithopedion, commonly referred to as a "stone baby."

At the age of 31, Huang Yijun received a diagnosis of ectopic pregnancy in 1948 , a condition in which the fetus grows outside the uterus. Astonishingly, the pregnancy ended unsuccessfully, leading to the fetus becoming calcified within her body—an occurrence that is rarely observed in medical annals.

Despite medical recommendations for surgery, financial limitations compelled her to choose an alternative route. Nevertheless, Huang endured no discomfort and made the decision to live untreated with the condition.

Ectopic pregnancies frequently give rise to atypical consequences, such as the fetus being reabsorbed by the body or the creation of calcium deposits around it. This leads to the emergence of an uncommon occurrence known as a "stone baby" or lithopedion.

In Huang's situation, the fetus underwent a gradual metamorphosis into a lithopedion over the passage of time. Astonishingly, she bore this calcified fetus for a span of 61 years.

Ultimately, in 2009, at the age of 92, Huang underwent a surgical intervention aimed at removing the lithopedion. With the skill of medical professionals, the calcified remnants were effectively extracted, thereby concluding the six-decade-long medical anomaly.
