In a significant briefing on Monday, India's top defence officials, including the Director Generals of Military Operations (DGMOs) and senior Air Force and Navy officers, broke their silence on Operation Sindoor , a powerful counter-terror operation that has gripped the nation’s attention since May 7.

Launched in the early hours of May 7, Operation Sindoor zeroed in on nine terror camps spread across Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied-Kashmir (PoK). But this was no one-off strike-Operation Sindoor became the umbrella for India’s continued military responses, until both countries recently agreed to a ceasefire understanding.

Here are the key takeaways from the briefing:

Air Marshal AK Bharti, speaking on behalf of the Indian Air Force , minced no words. “Our fight was against terror infra, terrorists but Pakistan military chose to support terrorists and widened conflict. It is a pity that the Pakistani military chose to intervene and that for terrorists, and hence we chose to respond,” he said.

He praised India’s robust defence setup. “Our battle-proven systems stood the test of time and take them head on. Another highlight has been the stellar performance of the indigenous air defence system, the Akash system. Putting together and operationalising the potent AD environment has been possible only because of budgetary and policy support from the government of India in the last decade.”

Pakistan tried to push back with waves of drones and combat UAVs, but Indian defences were ready. “Numerous waves of drones and unmanned combat aerial vehicles employed by Pakistan were also thwarted by the indigenously developed soft and hard kill counter-UAS systems and the well-trained Indian Air Defence personnel,” Bharti revealed.

He also shared a composite image of the targets struck by the Indian Air Force during the operation, showcasing the precision and planning that went into each strike.

Operation Sindoor has not only demonstrated India’s military might but also underlined the power of indigenous tech and preparation in defending national security.
