Amidst escalating tensions, former US President Donald Trump announced on Saturday that India and Pakistan have agreed to a "full and immediate ceasefire" after talks mediated by the United States. This development follows recent counterterror actions by India in response to terror attacks and repeated drone incursions from Pakistan. The announcement was made on Truth Social, Trump's social media platform.

According to Donald Trump, India and Pakistan have agreed to a ceasefire.

Posting on Truth Social, Trump stated: "After a long night of talks mediated by the United States , I am pleased to announce that India and Pakistan have agreed to a FULL AND IMMEDIATE CEASEFIRE. Congratulations to both Countries on using Common Sense and Great Intelligence. Thank you for your attention to this matter!"

The announcement comes after days of heightened tensions between the two nations.

India had been responding to repeated drone attacks from Pakistan. The Indian air defence systems were employed to shoot down these drones.

Prior to this, on May 7, India executed a counterterror operation named ' Operation Sindoor '.

This operation targeted terror camps in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir.

'Operation Sindoor' was a response to a terror attack in Jammu and Kashmir’s Pahalgam on April 22. The attack resulted in 26 fatalities and was allegedly sponsored by Pakistan.
