In a strong retaliatory move, the Border Security Force (BSF) on Friday night destroyed a terror launchpad in Pakistan’s Sialkot district, opposite Jammu’s Akhnoor sector. The precision strike came after unprovoked firing by Pakistani forces around 9 pm, targeting BSF posts along the International Border.

According to officials, the destroyed site at Looni was a hub for facilitating terrorist infiltration and cross-border attacks. "BSF responded in a commensurate manner, causing widespread damage to the posts and assets of the Pakistan Rangers. Our resolve to protect India’s sovereignty is unshaken," said a spokesperson.

The incident is part of a broader surge in hostilities between India and Pakistan. The Indian defence ministry confirmed that 26 locations, including Jammu, Baramulla, Pathankot, and even parts of Gujarat and Rajasthan, were hit by Pakistani artillery and drone attacks.

Punjab’s Jalandhar saw a drone-triggered blast that damaged a home, while Kutch district in Gujarat witnessed blackouts and public safety alerts due to aerial threats. Armed drones were also sighted over Ferozpur, prompting heightened security.

Tragically, five lives were lost in Jammu, including a two-year-old girl, a government officer in Rajouri, and a woman in Poonch. Additional District Development Commissioner Raj Kumar Thapa died after a shell struck his residence. Multiple injuries were reported in Rajouri, Jammu, and Poonch due to shelling and drone strikes.

"The Indian Armed Forces are maintaining a high state of alert, and all such aerial threats are being tracked and engaged using counter-drone systems. The situation is under close and constant watch & prompt action is being taken wherever necessary," the ministry said.

India’s armed forces remain on high alert, with counter-drone systems deployed across sensitive zones. “The situation is under close and constant watch,” said the Ministry of Defence.

This retaliation follows a string of escalations since the April 22 Pahalgam attack. Nine terrorist bases across Pakistan and PoK-linked to groups like Jaish-e-Mohammad and Lashkar-e-Taiba-were hit by Indian missile strikes on May 7.

As tensions mount, India has made it clear: provocations will meet precision, and security will not be compromised.
