NIA arrests Maoist in terror funding case
Ranchi: The National Investigation Agency (NIA) arrested Sunil Manjhi, a Maoist cadre wanted for his role in a case of terror funding, from Giridih district on Wednesday. A special court on Thursday remanded Manjhi to four-day NIA custody.
In a statement, NIA said Manjhi’s role came up while the agency was probing a case registered against CPI (Maoist) cadre Manoj Kumar who was arrested by police on January 22 and Rs 6 lakh cash and incriminating documents were seized from his possession.
The case was later handed over to NIA which re-registered it in July 2018.
NIA found that Manjhi, a member of the Bihar Jharkhand Special Area Committee, was very active in collecting levy from contractors engaged in development works in the Parasnath area of Giridih.
