Niti Aayog celebrates 73rd Independence Day by serving Tricolour-themed food at Anganwadi in Latehar

New Delhi: On the occasion of India's 73rd Independence Day, citizens tuned in to their television sets to see Prime Minister Narendra Modi hoist the majestic Indian flag and address the nation. The PM mentioned social issues like female foeticide triple talaq and the recent abrogation of Article 370 in his speech.

While listening to the PM's speech was a major part of the day, citizens of India celebrated the 73rd year of independence by donning clothes hues of saffron, white and green. Vendors selling flags could be seen on the roads while children were seen enthusiastically preparing for the celebrations of the national occasion. Patriotic songs were telecast on the radio stations as the country looked back at the struggle of India's freedom fighters.

A major issue that the PM Narendra Modi addressed in his speech is the spurt of population in the country. PM Modi said that before giving birth to a child, it is important for the family to think if they will be able to provide a healthy and fulfilling life to the child. He said that if a person is not healthy, he will neither be happy with himself, nor with the country.

A day prior to the celebration, the Niti Aayog channelled a similar spirit and celebrated the day by taking a step to make the 'future of India' healthier. To ensure that the country has a bright and healthy tomorrow, the policy think tank of the country decided to work for the betterment for children of the country.

In Jharkhand's Latehar district, the Niti Aayog served Tricolour themed food to children at the Anganwadi centre. The organisation addressed the problem of malnutrition as they served nutritious food to children at the facility. The Niti Aayog tweeted the photographs of the pre-independence celebration on Wednesday and wrote, "The Tricolour themed food is being served to create awareness about nutritious food and encourage children to lead a healthy lifestyle."

Netizens lauded the organisation for taking the initiative and working towards making the future of the country stronger and better. In the photographs, the children could be seen eating rice, salad and vegetables at the Anganwadi centre. Niti Aayog acknowledged the fact that malnutrition is one of the major challenges that India has been facing for years. While several policies have been drafted to tackle the problem, not much has been achieved over the years as the children of the country still struggle for their basic need of nutrition from an early age.
