No 'lahar', only Modi's 'qahar', says Shatrughan Sinha

PATNA: A day after Rahul Gandhi campaigned for him, Congress’s Patna Sahib candidate Shatrughan Sinha said on Friday the impressive crowd in the party chief’s roadshow was reply to those who were showing him his auqaat (capability).

Shatrughan was referring to BJP national president Amit Shah, who had done a roadshow on Saturday in favour of BJP’s Patna Sahib candidate Ravi Shankar Prasad near the actor-turned-politician’s house and a section of media had reported that it was done to show Shatrughan his “auqaat”.

“Our roadshow was not only historical, but also hysterical. They were talking about showing me the right place. Now, people have shown them their right place. People of Bihar did the same with Prime Minister Narendra Modi when the latter talked of our DNA,” the Shotgun said.

He also trained his gun at PM Modi saying there was no ‘lahar’, but only Modi ‘qahar’ (atrocity). “I have always raised the voice of people and never did anything for my personal benefit. I raised my voice against demonetisation, GST, kind of treatment given to Lal Krishna Advani, etc. I still have respect for people like Nanaji Deshmukh, Atal Bihari Vajpayee and Advani ji. But now there is dictatorship in BJP. It’s one-man show two-man army.”

He also said he was not upset over denial of a ministerial berth in the NDA government as some people were saying. “Will they cite the same reason for veteran leaders like Arun Shourie, Murli Manohar Joshi and Yashwant Sinha for being upset with BJP?”

Shatru was all praises for Rahul, who he said had shown the NDA its stature within a short period of becoming party president.

Time and again, Shatrughan took names of RJD supremo Lalu Prasad calling him a true friend. “He has been sent behind bars with the intention to take revenge. People are disappointed with this and saying jail ka phatak tootega, Lalu Yadav chutega”, he said.

Senior Congress leader from Jharkhand, Subodh Kant Sahay, also hit out at BJP saying people were suppressed under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s regime. “GA will not only be sweeping in Bihar, but across the country. Congress will emerge as the single largest party. Even regional parties from Uttar Pradesh, Odisha and West Bengal, which are out of any alliance, will be major contributors.”

Sahay made it clear that Congress will try for consensus among all the regional parties before declaring Rahul Gandhi as the party’s prime ministerial candidate.

RJD leader Alok Mehta gave the examples of farmers, youth and students, saying had been ruined under the present government. Asking people to vote for Shatrughan, he said the latter’s victory will be Lalu’s victory. Representatives of other GA partners were also present in the conference long with Shatrughan’s twin sons Luv Sinha and Kush Sinha.
