Noida among UP's worst in grievance redress

Noida: In a statewide performance review for the month of July, the Gautam Budh Nagar district found itself placed on the 60th position (out of 75 districts) in terms of resolution of complaints filed by citizens at the CM’s grievance redress portal IGRS and CM’s helpline.

Stung by the poor performance of the district, the Gautam Budh Nagar police chief has penned a letter to the SHOs to ensure timely redressal of grievances.

All the circle officers and SHOs in the district have been asked to speed up the process of disposal of complaints that arrive on the IGRS portal.

The decision was taken by SSP Vaibhav Krishna after the district’s performance in the disposal of IGRS complaints was noted to be “below expectations” during a recent review done by senior officers.

According to the police officers, chief minister Yogi Adityanath too reviewed the scheme of grievance redressal through the IGRS portal and the CM’s helpline.

Launched by the Akhilesh Yadav government in February 2016, the Integrated Grievance Redressal System (IGRS) is a system that has been made for the redressal of grievances of citizens, who may not have been able to approach the related departments.

The facility allows complainants to lodge a complaint on the ‘Jansunwai’ portal, track the status of their complaint and receive feedback from the concerned department via the portal.

During the latest review meeting to assess the situation and a subsequent meeting with senior police officers held a few days back, it was noted that the grievance redressal was not fast in some of the districts.

Meanwhile, the SSP told TOI that the review meeting looked at the performance of all the districts in July in disposal of IGRS complaints and those received over the helpline number – 1706.

“The district ranked 60th but I felt that there is much scope for improvement. Directions have been issued to all the SHOs in a letter, to ensure speedy disposal of the IGRS complaints,” he added.

“On an average, there are between 200 and 250 complaints. It gets difficult to dispose them of within time. Smaller districts tend to do better in the IGRS grievance redressal,” a senior police officer posted in Noida told TOI.

In the recent past, Pilibhit has emerged as one of the districts that managed to secure the top spot in terms of speedy disposal of complaints that come on the IGRS grievance redressal system- at least twice.
