Noida: A 40-year-old compounder has been arrested for allegedly murdering his 24-year-old wife on Monday.

The couple and their five-year-old son had been staying at the woman’s brother’s house in Sadarpur Colony. But recently, the compounder rented a room where the incident took place.

Uttam Das was upset with his wife’s alleged relationship with Amit Biswas, with whom she eloped a few days ago, police said.

But Das brought her back home on Monday. He used to work as a compounder under the woman’s brother.

Sector 39 SHO Neeraj Malik said Das: “The woman had eloped to Panipat and Uttam brought her back on Monday.”

But around 6 am on Tuesday, the couple had an argument after Das saw the woman talking to Amit over phone, police said.

“Das strangled her with a plastic rope, as their son was asleep,” he said.

Later, Das called up Sector 39 police and said the woman had committed suicide.

Sudhir Kumar Singh, senior sub-inspector, Sector 39 police station, told TOI: “He confessed to the crime later. An FIR has been lodged under IPC Section 302 ( murder ).”
