Not admitted to hospital for 8 hours, 45-year-old man dies within premises

Tirupati: A 45-year-old man died while waiting for treatment at a hospital in Andhra Pradesh. The man breathed his last within the premises of the hospital as he waited for around 8 hours to be admitted to the facility. The incident took place at the government general hospital in Anantapur, Andhra Pradesh.

The man was identified as Dharmavaram. Dharmavaram had been brought to the Anantapur GGH for treatment after he complained of breathlessness.

No help from hospital

At around 3.30 am, the man's wife Kalavathi registered his name in the outpatient register. The hospital staff, however, did not respond to the same and did not admit Dharmavaram to the facility even as his condition worsened.

Kalawathi told The Times of India, "Hours passed by but not a single doctor came to our rescue. My husband died in the middle of the road in the hospital premises due to the negligence of medical staff at the Anantapur GGH. "

Kalawathi added that her husband was not provided with any medical help for around 8 hours. After the incident, the family reportedly waited under the shelter of a tree before the staff shifted the body to the mortuary.

Hospital superintendent denies allegations

Anantapur GGH superintendent Dr M Ramaswamy denied all allegations made by the deceased construction worker's family. He said, "It's not true that he was denied medical attention. The family members allegations that they were denied admission at the hospital despite getting registered in the OP is not true. "
