Not Free! Aamir Khan Demanded Hefty Price To Appear On The Great Indian Kapil Show

Although the joke was on Aamir, what with Kapil Sharma declaring loudly that Aamir had come on the show for free, the truth is Netflix paid the B-town actor a huge amount to tolerate the cheap jokes about Aamir impersonators trooping in to tickle our fancy.

None of it really worked. Bringing in three Aamir doppelgangers one after another was a bad idea.

Rajiv Thakur and Kiku Sharda were pathetic in their parody. Even Sunil Grover cut a pitiable figure as a carbon copy, trying to be smart and sassy, failing miserably on both counts.

The real Aamir looked as though he would like to be anywhere, but here. But then, there were the zeroes on the cheque to consider. He admitted he was going through a professional and personal crisis. And coming to Kapil’s show made him smile.

I have never seen Aamir so relaxed. As if he had come on the show determined to have a good time. In the five weeks of its existence this episode of The Great Indian Kapil Show was the most seamless, the most relaxed. Aamir spoke from his heart about anything and everything including his relationship with his children. "They just don’t listen to me,” Aamir exclaimed.

There is a quality of unquestionable honesty about Aamir. It came bubbling to the surface in Kapil’s company. Or did the presence of Aamir’s two beautiful sisters in the audience have something to do with his buoyant mood?
