Hyderabad: The plan of sarpanchs in Huzurnagar to file 250 nominations as independents failed as only one current and one former sarpanch one were able to file nomination on the last day.

The nominations of Pandu Goud and former Sarpanch Raju were accepted by the authorities. However, drama unfolded at Suryapet Collectorate as authorities did not accept the nominations of about 30 sarpanchs. “This is a violation of rules. Our nominations were rejected on flimsy grounds. TRS is scared of a Nizamabad-like result, so it prevented us from filing nominations,” Dhana Lakshmi, sarpanch forum women wing president told TOI.

She and nearly 30 others reached the collector’s office before 3pm, while another 70 members were not allowed to file the nominations as they reached the collectorate after 3pm.
