Pawan Kalyan declares assets of 136 cr, liabilities of 65.7 cr

Vijayawada: Jana Sena president Pawan Kalyan’s assets and liabilities increased notably between 2019 and 2024.

In his election affidavit for Pithapuram assembly constituency in Kakinada district on Tuesday, he declared movable and immovable assets worth 136.05 crore, which doubled from 52.85 crore in 2019. However, his liabilities, which stood at 65.76 crore against 33.72 crore in 2019, suggest a corresponding rise in debt.

He owes a substantial portion of his liabilities, amounting to 46.70 crore, to individuals and entities mostly related to movies/entertainment. Pawan has loans of 17.56 crore from different banks to repay. He also has liabilities of 1.50 crore which was not mentioned in particular to whom.

Pawan, who had no criminal cases against him before he entered politics, now faces eight cases — three for speaking against the volunteer system in Andhra Pradesh, two for provocative speeches, one for sitting on the rooftop of his car at Ippatam, two each for allegations against former Telangana chief minister K Chandrashekar Rao and a news channel.

He declared his self-acquired assets at 90.49 crore and 3.91 crore as inherited assets. Stating his liabilities that are under dispute, he declared a wealth tax of 7.60 lakh, which has already been paid, though a rectification order is pending at the jurisdictional assessing officer of the income tax department in Hyderabad, he said.

His spouse Konidela Anna’s assets were declared at 2.95 crore, including movable, immovable, and inherited. She has no liabilities.

His total income shown in his income tax returns for the last five years (as on March 31) is 60.77 crore, from financial year 2018-19 to 2022-23. His bank deposits are about 16.48 crore, while his spouse Konidela holds 86.05 lakh in her bank accounts.

Pawan has four children — Desai Akira Nandan, Desai Aadya, Konidala Polina Andzhani, and Konidala Mark Shankar, who have assets of 89.38 lakh, 87.77 lakh, 89.17 lakh and 86.25 lakh, respectively.
