Phagwara: High voter turnouts were registered at Dakha and Jalalabad assembly constituencies, while the figure was comparatively lower at Phagwara and Mukerian sears.

The SAD is contesting from Dakha and Jalalabad, and its ally BJP has fielded candidates from Phagwara and Mukerian.

Phagwara’s turnout, 55%, was the lowest at 7pm. In Mukerian, it was 59%.

Dakha and Jalalabad had turnouts of 71.64% and 78.76% at the time this story was filed.

In Mukerian, it is a direct contest between Congress and BJP-SAD. In Phgawara, BSP has shown its presence across the constituency and had booths outside almost all polling stations.

AAP and LIP candidates also had their booths outside several polling stations, but the presence of supporters was thin there.

Mukerian is going to the polls as sitting MLA Rajnish Babbi of the Congress died.
