'PM indulging in politics of hate'

Jalandhar : Punjab chief minister and AAP leader Bhagwant Mann on Friday said after realising that the BJP had lost ground in the first phase of the Lok Sabha elections, Prime Minister Narendra Modi was indulging in “politics of hate” to garner votes.

“After the first round of the polling when PM Modi realised that INDIA bloc was gaining more seats, his tone changed and now he is doing politics of hate ,” Mann said while addressing the AAP supporters during a roadshow to seek votes for Pawan Teenu.

“After remaining in power for 10 years he should have been seeking votes in the name of his work, but he is seeking votes in the name of mangalsutra,” said Mann.

The CM also alleged that the BJP was trying to disturb the social amity in the state and people should be careful about it. He further said the BJP’s intention behind the “400+” pitch was to change the Constitution of India. “Once they change the Constitution drafted by Dr B R Ambedkar, there will be no elections afterwards,” he said. Mann chose to level the allegation of “changing the Constitution” in the reserve constituency of Jalandhar, where the perception is being talked about among the Dalits.

He also took pot shots at sitting MP Sushil Rinku for “betraying Punjab” by jumping from the AAP to the BJP. “Last year, I came on this route…but one never knows what is in the mind of the other person. That fellow must now realise where the huge gathering is taking place,” Mann said without naming Rinku.

“You must ensure that the one who disrespected your mandate never wins again. People sent him to Parliament, what else were his ambitions? The people gave you so much respect, then why should you betray the people. Now, he will have to taste the consequences,” he said.
