PM Modi did injustice in last 5 years, now Congress will do justice in next 5: Rahul Gandhi in Dungarpur

Dungarpur: Congress president Rahul Gandhi on Tuesday said that PM Modi, for the last five years, has been running a government for the benefit of only a few industrialists. The Gandhi scion also took aim at the PM for going back on his promise to deposit Rs 15 lakh in every individual's bank account.

Addressing a rally in Rajasthan's Dungarpur, Rahul Gandhi said, "BJP has done injustice in five years, now Congress will do justice in next five." Promising to put money back into the pockets of the poor, Rahul said if Congress is voted to power then 22 lakh people will be provided jobs in the government sector.

Rahul said that PM Modi-led NDA government did most injustice to tribals in the past five years. He did not fulfil promises and ran a government for the benefit of 15-20 people, Gandhi alleged.

Meanwhile, the Congress president has been served with a contempt notice by the Supreme Court over his comments attributing the "Chowkidar Chor Hai" remark to the top court.  After the top court agreed to hear a review petition in the Rafale fighter jet case on the basis of "photocopied" confidential documents, Rahul had said, "Supreme Court has made it clear that Chowkidarji has committed a theft."

Soon after this comment, BJP’s Meenakshi Lekhi filed a petition in the Supreme Court claiming that “the words used and attributed by Rahul to SC in the Rafale case has been made to appear something else. He is replacing his personal statement as the Supreme Court’s order and trying to create prejudice.”

Responding to the petition in court, Rahul had submitted an affidavit saying he regrets his comments and said that "he made the comments in the heat of campaigning."
