Prime accused in 'fake registration certificate' case gets bail

Patiala: Prime accused in the ‘fake RC’ case, in which four FIRs have been registered across Punjab, was granted bail by the Punjab and Haryana high court on Thursday. Kingpin of the multi-crore fake vehicle registration certificate (RC) case, Rashwinder Singh, was granted bail by Justice Harinder Singh Sidhu, who also issued a notice to the state police on a petition filed for quashing the FIR.



The case will come up for further hearing on December 4.

Rashwinder’s counsel Harneet Oberoi said the FIR in the matter regard was registered by Amloh police in which he had been accused of for forging documents to get registration certificate issued of vehicles purchased from other states. It was alleged that he had faked the chassis number of other details to get the RC made.

However, it has turned out that Rashwinder got these RCs made without getting the NOC issued from other states. The Jalandhar and Ropar police had also registered FIRs on the same facts and had confiscated 63 vehicles and related documents. Earlier, Rashwinder had been granted bail in the FIRs filed at Amloh and Jalandhar and when his bail got rejected from Rupnagar courts, he applied for same in the high court.
