1. Guj HC Issues Notices to Govt on Allegations Against BJP MLA

The Gujarat High Court on Friday, 15 November, issued notice to the state government and BJP MLA and former minister Babu Bokhiria on a PIL alleging illegal transfer of forest land in favour of him and his family members in Jamnagar district.

The district's Paradva Gram Panchayat had moved a PIL in the matter last year and it came up for hearing on Friday before the division bench of Chief Justice Vikram Nath and Justice AJ Shastri.

The bench issued notices to the state government, the Jamnagar district collector, the district forest officer and Bokhiria. Further hearing would take place on 13 December.

The petition alleges that Bokhiria, his son and son-in-law "forged and fabricated power of attorney" to acquire a piece of land in Paradva village.

The land, measuring 200 hectares, was already declared as reserve forest and is home to several wild animals, it stated.

5. Ayodhya Verdict in Our Favour as BJP is in Power: Guj MP

Mansukh Vasava, BJP MP of Bharuch in Gujarat, on Thursday, 14 November claimed Supreme Court gave a verdict "in our favour" on the Ram Janmabhoomi dispute in Ayodhya because a BJP government is at the Centre.

It drew condemnation from the Congress which demanded an apology and accused the MP of "fanning communal tension".

Vasava, however, later claimed he was only pointing to how the BJP government (at the Centre) was able to maintain law and order after the SC verdict was delivered on 9 November.

The Supreme Court in a unanimous verdict cleared the way for the construction of a Ram Temple at the disputed site at Ayodhya, and directed the Centre to allot a 5-acre plot to the Sunni Waqf Board for building a mosque.
