Queer Garba makes Navratri an inclusive affair

Dilbar Dandiya, a Bhilai based Dandiya organisation group organised Queer Garba recently. It was the third consecutive year when the organising group comprising of Nitin Sahu, Sayeeda Parveen, Kumari Shilpa Nishad, Jonathan Jona, Arshia Aalam and Kiran Singh, Pankaj, Enosh other members successfully organised the event.

Dilbar Dandiya is known for different special themes on each day of Garba night. Following that, members of QueerGarh, the independent queer organisation were invited on October 2. The venue of the event was Weldex ground, Civic Centre, Bhilai.



Many members of LGBTQIA+ community joined the event. As the big projector on the venue kept showing colourful pictures from the Raipur Pride, the LGBTQIA+ members draped in colourful attires dance joyfully to the tunes of Garba.



The community members were also felicitated on stage by organisers with momentous. Vidya Rajput, member of Transgender Welfare Board emphasised the importance of mainstreaming of the community. Sidhant Behera, a member of QueerGarh said that empowerment of the community is possible through mainstreaming.



Jonathan Jona, one of the organisers said that it was great pleasure to host the group. The group has recently organised 1st pride of the state which is not just a proud moment for the community, but for the state as well.



Around 50 members of the community joined the event. As the night progressed, so did the tune and the beats. As everyone mingled with each other and shared joy and happiness, better India was in constant making.
