Raia murder: Two accused still at large

MARGAO: The Maina Curtorim police are still on the lookout for two more suspects in the Fransisco Carvalho murder case. The police on Sunday had arrested four persons in the case — Royan Alvares, 21, Vilton Coutinho, 34, Melburn Coutinho, 22, all residents of Nuvem, and Valencio Vaz, 26, a resident of Shiroda — while two more remained at large.

“We have identified the two accused who are absconding, and they will be nabbed soon,” police sources said.

Carvalho was a resident of Manora in Raia . His body was found on Friday at Loutolim where it had been dumped on the platform of a Borim bridge pier. There were deep stab injuries on the abdomen and back, and wounds on the head.

Police said the murder was a fallout of an altercation between the deceased and the six accused over some seemingly petty issue. Carvalho was attacked by the accused with bottles and a weapon leading to his death.

The four accused have been remanded in four-day police custody.
