Rain lashes several parts of Tamil Nadu's Thoothukudi

THOOTHUKUDI: Heavy rainfall hit parts of Thoothukudi in Tamil Nadu, causing waterlogging and inconvenience for commuters. People sought shelter from the rain as the city endured the downpour. The Indian Meteorological Department reported 2.9 mm of rainfall from April 10 to April 11, with a total of 19.2 mm so far this month.

Last week, Thoothukudi received 13.6 mm of rain. In a recent bulletin, the IMD stated that temperatures in Tamil Nadu were above normal, with some areas experiencing temperatures 2°C to 4°C higher than usual.

Tirupattur recorded the highest temperature at 41.8°C, followed by Salem at 40.1°C. The coastal regions saw temperatures ranging from 33°C to 37°C, while hilly areas experienced temperatures between 21°C and 31°C. Last month, Thoothukudi also faced heavy rainfall.

The IMD's bulletin highlighted the temperature variations across different parts of Tamil Nadu and neighboring regions. The impact of the rainfall and high temperatures on the area's residents and infrastructure remains a concern.
