Ranchi: Auto association launches WhatsApp number for complaints

RANCHI: Have you been overcharged or misbehaved by the driver of the autorickshaw you are travelling in? If the answer is yes, you can immediately file a complaint with the WhatsApp number of the auto association, which has promised action against the erring driver.

Dinesh Soni, president of the Jharkhand Pradesh Diesel Auto Chalak Mahasang (JPDACM), said aggrieved passengers can lodged their complaints with the WhatsApp number 7903492078.

He said, “The association will take action against the erring drivers, if any complaint is found to be true.” He added that the move has been taken up after instances of scuffles and arguments between passengers and drivers surfaced time and again.

In Ranchi, autos form the backbone of the public transport system. Roughly, over 10,000 autos ply on different city routes daily, though barely half of them are reported to have valid permits from the district administration.

As far as fares are concerned, each route has fixed charge decided by the association. However, overcharging by drivers is one of the common problems which commuters often have to face.
