Renowned Hollywood director Daniel Zirilli dies at 58

The film and music industry is mourning the loss of celebrated Hollywood director Daniel Zirilli, who passed away on April 28 at the age of 58.

His family recently confirmed his death but did not disclose the cause.

Earlier, his daughter Talise Zirilli had hinted at her father's unexplained absence since April 24 in an Instagram post.

Zirilli's early life and start in the film industry
Beginnings


Born on November 13, 1965, Zirilli made a name for himself in the entertainment industry at an early age.

After his graduation from Pepperdine University in Malibu, he founded Popart Film Factory when he was only 24 and then went on to make a name for himself in Hollywood.

Per his daughter's post, the funeral will be "small" "so we can just be together as a family."

Zirilli's illustrious career includes directing and writing over 30 feature films, mainly in the action and thriller genres, and producing more than 85 films.

His impressive body of work includes Invincible, a film he directed, produced, and co-wrote.

It was released by Lionsgate in 2022 and starred Johnny Strong and Marko Zaror.

Other notable films by Zirilli include Acceleration (2019), Renegades (2022), and Phoenix (2023).


Zirilli's influence extended to music videos, too

Beyond film, Zirilli's creative influence also extended to music videos.

Per Deadline, he directed over 250 music videos including the Rolling Stones's Voodoo Lounge.

His collaborations spanned a diverse range of artists such as Three 6 Mafia, Redman, Cypress Hill, Shaq, and Scarface.

He produced music videos for Russell Simmons's film The Show for Def Jam and Michael Nesmith of The Monkees.
