Richa Chadha salutes the heroism shown by our healthcare workers during the pandemic

The actress remembers her grandfather, who was a doctor in the Indian Army , and also pays tribute to our frontline medical workers for their selfless service.

Our doctors and frontline health workers have emerged as the true heroes in this time of crisis, when the world is battling the COVID-19 pandemic .

For Richa Chadha , saluting these warriors has a personal connect as well. She tells Bombay Times , “My nanaji was a surgeon in the Indian Army. After Independence, he was a part of all the major wars till 1971. My mother tells me that whenever he would hear of a flood, earthquake or epidemic in any part of the country, he’d pack his bags and head there in selfless service of the people. I salute all our doctors and medical professionals.”


She adds, “The world is currently dealing with a situation where we are more dependent on our healthcare workers than ever before. During this pandemic, while we’ve all had the luxury of working from the comfort of our homes, they’ve spent long hours at work, in situations where they are facing a lethal threat themselves. They’ve spent days away from their families, and even faced stigma from their neighbours. It’s important that we acknowledge the selfless deeds of these brave men and women. It’s they who make the world a better place to live in.”
