Rival BJP factions clash in Kaithal
KAITHAL: Some persons sustained injuries as two groups of BJP workers clashed in Kaithal on Tuesday just before the arrival of Haryana chief minister Manohar Lal Khattar during his ‘Jan Ashirvad Yatra.’ After the clash, heavy police force was deployed to ensure security arrangements for the CM’s visit.
The ‘yatra’ was flagged off by Union defence minister Rajnath Singh from Kalka and would conclude at Rohtak on September 8 in the presence of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Supporters of former INLD MLA Leela Ram Gujjar, who recently joined BJP, and Narender Gujjar got into a brawl before the yatra was to enter Kaithal. Narender alleged Leela Ram’s supporters didn’t know the culture of the saffron party as they had joined BJP recently. He said, “We will approach the police to register an FIR against Leela Ram seeking strict action. We have also apprised the party high command about the incident.”
