Nagpur: The Railway Protection Force (RPF) seized 10 Indian made foreign liquor bottles and another country liquor one collectively worth Rs13,447 from two women bootleggers who were waiting at the platform to board a train to Chandrapur. The district has become a hotbed for liquor smuggling since the ban.

A joint team of RPF, under senior divisional security commissioner, Bhawani Shankar Nath, zeroed in on the women at platform number two.

The women, Parubai Pille (50) and Rambai Irgulla (50), both residents of Chandrapur district, were nabbed from the Itarsi end where they were waiting for a train.

During interrogation by RPF’s women cops, the duo spilled the beans about the liquor bottles in their possession.

The RPF, under in-charge of Nagpur post, RR James and supervision of Nath, have formed special teams to crack down on illegal activities. The latest action was taken during anti-crime patrolling by two such special units. The women were handed over to the state excise department along with the seized liquor.
