Sales tax employees held for taking bribe

Agra: Two employees of sales tax department were caught red-handed by the Anti Corruption Bureau (ACB) on Monday while accepting a bribe of Rs 10,000 from a trader who operates pick-up vehicles from Palwal to Mathura for collecting battery scrap.

ACB inspector Mahesh Gautam said that they received a complaint by Anil, a resident of Hodal city in Palwal. He said two employees of sales tax department, Jagdish Prasad Meena (driver) and Rakesh Kumar (peon) had threatened to stop his vehicles plying from Palwal to Mathura until he paid them Rs 10,000 per month.

A team was formed and on Monday, the duo was nabbed from Radhapuram Chowk while they were accepting bribe from Anil. They were booked under the Prevention of Corruption Act at Highway police station.
