Schools to reopen after summer vacation on June 3

Thiruvananthapuram: Schools in the state will reopen after summer vacation on June 3. Chief minister Pinarayi Vijayan, who chaired a pre-school reopening meeting, gave instructions to the authorities concerned to complete the preparations in a time-bound manner.

As per decisions in the meeting, all schools should carry out maintenance works and obtain fitness certificates before the reopening for next academic year.

Instructions have also been given to take steps to ensure that school premises are also free from all sorts of dangers.

It has been instructed in the meeting that fitness certificates should be issued to school buses and private vans.

The meeting decided to ensure the service of teachers engaged to impart lessons in tribal language to tribal students right from the reopening day. Tribal promoters should also ensure that students from tribal areas reach schools without fail.

Like in previous years, anti-narcotic awareness campaigns will be organized in schools. Students’ parliament will be organized on Anti-Narcotic Day on June 26. The meeting charted out a flurry of anti-narcotic awareness programmes throughout the year, both inside and outside the school premises. The chief minister wanted officials concerned to put up anti-narcotic posters in all govt, quasi-govt establishments and public sector units and cooperative institutions.

General education minister V Sivankutty, higher education minister R Bindu, local self-govt minister M B Rajesh, revenue minister K Rajan and industries minister P Rajeeve and other officials attended the meeting.
