Section 144 in Ramgarh village before protest rally

Ramgarh: The Ramgarh district administration on Sunday imposed prohibitory orders under Section 144 of the CrPc in Chittarpur area of Rajrappa police station in the wake of a proposed rally by minority community members on Monday. The rally was proposed from Eidgah ground to Chitarpur high school to protest against mob lynching.

“An application submitted to office of sub-divisional officer, Ramgarh by Mutheda Muslim Mahaj seeking permission for tomorrow’s protest march has been rejected on law and order grounds. A procession on such a sensitive issue could create communal tension and hence, prohibitory orders under Section 144 have been imposed,” a formal order of the administration reads. Ramgarh sub-divisional officer Anant Kumar said, “Such protests in some states turned violent. Hence, the administration did not approve the rally.”
