Senior manager molests subordinate

Ahmedabad: A 35-year-old woman living in Chandkeda lodged a complaint for sexual harassment and criminal intimidation against her senior manager in a Chennai-based company that has a branch in the city.

The complainant said her company provides contracted workers to hospital s, including SVP Hospital.

She is a manager and has been deployed at a hospital on the outskirts of Ahmedabad.

She stated that on Saturday, her senior HR manager Ilumalai called her and told her that workers at SVP were on strike and told her to go there. She said she was unable to go but sent someone from her team instead.

The complainant said that on Sunday, Ilumalai called her again and asked her to accompany him to SVP Hospital but she did not go. He called her again on Monday and directed her to pick him up from Hotel Pristine Residency near Airport Circle.

She said Ilumalai and another senior officer, S R Sunil, were both standing outside the hotel.

They then went to SVP Hospital and completed their work there, after which she left in the evening.

On Tuesday, she was again called to the hotel to finish some work. After she got there, she had breakfast with Ilumalai. When she asked Ilumalai when they were going to SVP, he told her Sunil would handle the work there and asked her to wait with him in the hotel.

She said Ilumalai then allegedly molested her in his hotel room. When she tried to leave, he grabbed her but she managed to free herself.

He then followed her and threatened her, telling her not to tell anyone what had happened.

The complainant said she spoke to her husband and on Thursday went to Airport police station and registered a complaint against Ilumalai.
