AMRITSAR: The Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) has asked its Sikh Mission at Hapur in Uttar Pradesh to send a report on thrashing of a Sikh by local police.

SGPC chief secretary Roop Singh said on Sunday that they had taken notice of the alleged beating of a Sikh identified as Sukhdev Singh by Kotwali police of Khair town in Sitapur district of Uttar Pradesh.

Sukhdev's son required urgent medical help and he just jumped the line in a hospital to get the card, for which he was beaten, SGPC official said.

While demanding strenuous punishment for the guilty so that such incidents were not repeated in future, he added that Brijpal Singh, in-charge of Sikh Mission, Hapur, had been directed to visit the spot and send his report .
