Shutters of three reservoirs lowered in Palakkad

Palakkad: Shutters of the three reservoirs of Walayar, Mangalam and Kanjirapuzha were brought down on Friday as the rainfall had declined in the district for the past three days.

One shutter of Walayar dam was closed and two shutters are lifted by just 2cm as against the 7cm last week.

Three shutters of Kanjirapuzha reservoir that were opened by 60cm are now brought down by 20cm on Friday.

Shutters of Mangalam dam that were lifted by 60cm last week is brought down to 5cm now due to declined rainfall.

Malampuzha irrigation project officials said that there was no need to open the shutters of the Malampuzha reservoir as the water level is just over 111m as against the 115.06m full reservoir level. The shutters will be opened only after it crosses 112m, the officials said.
