SI dies after jeep falls into ditch

A sub-inspector of police was killed when the jeep he was driving overturned and fell into a ditch at Yellareddygudem in Nalgonda in the early hours of Tuesday.


Kona Madhusudan , 32, was alone when the accident occurred. He dialled 108 for help but succumbed while undergoing treatment at Kamineni Hospital in Narketpally.

Madhusudan, SI of Pochampally, was on his way to Nalgonda to attend constable selections. "The accident occurred at 5.30 am when his official vehicle overturned near the Mahatma Gandhi University and fell into the culvert," said Choutuppal inspector P Venkateshwarlu. The SI, a resident of Hayathnagar near Ramoji Film City , left his home around 4.30am.

"As there are no CCTV cameras, we do not know the exact cause of the accident. We suspect that either he might have dozed off while driving and lost control or was speeding and lost control of the vehicle," the inspector said. Madhusudhan suffered multiple injuries and a severe head injury. A case was registered under section 304-A (causing death by negligence) of IPC. The SI is survived by wife, six-year-old son and four-year-old daughter.
