Sikhs saved Kashmiri students not Modi : Omar Abdullah

In a counter attack to its arch rival PDP, the National Conference on Tuesday fired salvos at the PDP chief Mehbooba Mufti, stating that  “NC workers were real mujahideen.” This, according to KNO, was stated by NC general secretary Ali Muhammad Sagar at a rally in northern Kashmir’s Baramulla district barely a days after Mehbooba had made a similar announcement."NC leaders and workers are working hard for the return of peace to Kashmir.

Our workers are real mujahideen,” said NC general secretary Ali Muhammad Sagar while addressing a public gathering in Baramulla. He said NC founder Sheikh Muhammad Abdullah gave his life for the common people of Kashmir.“He gave land and education to the people and even was jailed for the people. Today, those who are pointing fingers at us should first look at themselves. Our party has always strived for the poor,” said Sagar in his address to the workers, adding: “Aapki tanzeem ek mujahidoon ki Jamaat hai, hakeeki mujahid.”Sagar said that the contribution of NC towards Kashmir was known to all and that the party candidates will win all the three seats in Kashmir in upcoming Lok Sabha elections. Last week, the Peoples Democratic Party chief Mehbooba Mufti had called her workers as "real Mujahideen.

"Earlier, speaking on the occasion, the NC vice-president Omar Abdullah said criticized Prime Minister Narendra Modi of inaction stating that when Kashmiri students were being hounded in mainland India  Sikh community acted to save students not Modi.According to KNO Correspondent Omar Abdullah was addressing a gathering of people at Flood Colony Baramulla. "It were members of Sikh community who came forwarded to save  Kashmiri students from mob violence in Jammu and outside recently," Abdullah said. He criticized Modi Govt said that following Pulwama attack in which more than 40 CRPF personnel were killed, Kashmiris were targeted and hounded leading students to return home panic stricken. "Modi Government vanished and it did not exist when Kashmiris were being attacked across India. It was responsibility of government to protect them but unfortunately they did not," Abdullah told gathering. Abdullah also criticized Mehbooba Mufti accusing her of trying to  fool people.“She goes to same peopel who were to face brute force including bullets and pellets while she was in chair,” he said.
