Spl voter awareness campaign planned for low-turnout booths

Prayagraj: A special voter awareness campaign will be conducted by identifying the booths where voter turnout was low in the district.

District election officer (DEO) and district magistrate Navneet Singh Chahal held a meeting with the nodal and assistant nodal officers on Wednesday regarding the poll preparations and directed the officials to organise election schools at the booths where voting percentage was recorded low.

During the meeting, the first randomisation of EVMs was also done under the chairmanship of DEO in the presence of the representatives of different political parties. Everyone was informed about EVMs.

The chief development officer (CDO) Gaurav Kumar gave information about the appointment, feeding and training of polling personnel and said that the remuneration will be directly transferred into the bank account of the employees. They were asked to recheck the details of their accounts and in case of wrong details and send the corrections through the head of the department concerned.

The DM also directed the district inspector of schools (DIOS) to run a special voter awareness campaign in coordination with the officials of the High Court and District Bar Association. It was decided at the meeting that a campaign will be launched to register the Anganwadi workers and also that the booth level officer (BLO) would visit door-to-door to hand out voter slips.

Charging points will be made at the booths where webcasting is to be held said the DEO while directing the nodal officers to ensure its arrangements. He further directed to ensure that every booth must have a shaded area, drinking water, toilet, lighting, medical kit and ramp. The SDM and magistrates were asked to visit the booths and ensure that all arrangements are made.

Deputy district election officer Pooja Mishra, ADM (finance and revenue) Vinay Singh, ADM (Nazul) Pradeep Kumar, ADM City Madan Kumar, CRO Kunwar Pankaj and other officers were present at the meeting.
