04 May 2024

India are among the teams to watch out for in the 2024 ICC T20 World Cup, which will be co-hosted by West Indies and USA.

The tournament will be underway on June 1.

Notably, India have been away from the T20 WC title since tasting glory in the inaugural edition in 2007.

Here we decode bowlers with four-wicket hauls versus India in T20 WCs.

Dwayne Bravo - 4/38, 2009
#5

Dwayne Bravo's all-round show floored India in the 2009 T20 WC match at the Lord's.

The pacer, who claimed 4/38 in four overs, dismissed Gautam Gambhir to open his account.

MS Dhoni, Yusuf Pathan, and Irfan Pathan fell to him in the latter part of the innings as India were restricted to 153/7.

Bravo later scored 66* (36) as West Indies crossed the line.

Lungi Ngidi - 4/29, 2022
#4

South African speedster Lungi Ngidi was top-notch versus India in the 2022 T20 WC match in Perth.

Ngidi ripped apart the Indian batting line-up in his first spell, finishing overall with 4/29 from his four overs.

Rohit Sharma, KL Rahul, Virat Kohli, and Hardik Pandya were his victims in the match.

SA won the game by five wickets, having chased down 134.

Daniel Vettori - 4/20, 2007
#3

Chasing 191 versus New Zealand in the 2007 game in Johannesburg, India were cruising at 76/1 before Daniel Vettori's spell dented them.

The left-arm spinner dismissed half-centurion Gambhir (51) before sending back dashers like Robin Uthappa, Dinesh Karthik, and Irfan.

He claimed 4/20 in four overs as NZ won the duel by 10 runs.

Mohammad Asif - 4/18, 2007
#2

Pakistan pacer Mohammad Asif made the new ball talk against India in the 2007 match in Durban.

His brilliance meant Gambhir (0), Virender Sehwag, and Yuvraj Singh were dismissed inside the first five overs.

Dinesh Karthik was his final victim as he claimed 4/18 in four overs.

The game got tied before India claimed the victory through a historic bowl-out.

Mitchell Santner - 4/11, 2016
#1

NZ's left-arm spinner Mitchell Santner tops this list for recording 4/11 versus India in the 2016 T20 WC game in Nagpur.

Chasing 127 on a challenging track, the hosts never got going and were eventually folded for 79.

Santner dismissed Rohit and Suresh Raina in the third over before getting the best of finishers MS Dhoni and Hardik Pandya.
