Tamil Nadu: No Special Classes in Schools During Summer Vacations, DoE Issues Notice

Tamil Nadu Schools are closed on behalf of summer vacations. Tamil Nadu School Education Department has issued a warning to schools across the state against conducting special classes during summer vacation due to the heatwave conditions prevailing as per IANS report.

"The peak of summer Agni Nakshatram begins today and, according to weather reports, the scorching heat will continue upto May 28." reads the statement issued by the School Education Department.

Further it said that with the rise in mercury, people have been advised to be cautioned and also restricted schools from conducting special classes during summer holidays due to this.

DoE has warned that if any school is found violating the order and conducting special classes during the summer vacation, action would be taken.

The circular has been issued all the district education officers to conduct an investigation to find out if any schools were conducting special classes. State Education Minister Anbil Mahesh Poyyamozhi told IANS that the education department had issued a notice against conduct of special classes during the summer vacation and if any school is found violating this, strict action will be taken.

The summer vacation for school students for Class 1 to 9 have started on April 19 due to Lok Sabha elections and teachers have to be there for polling duty. The school reopening date is not yet announced. Usually schools are reopened on June 3 but is expected to get delayed as the election results are scheduled on June 4 as per reports.
