Tata Altroz Teased Again in an Official Promo Video

  • Tata Altroz will make an official debut in December 2019.
  •  It is the second product by Tata to be based on the IMPACT of Design 2.0 philosophy.
  •  It will be launched in a price range of INR 5-9 lakh (ex-showroom).

Tata has just launched another teaser video of the upcoming Altroz ahead of its official debut in December this year.

The homegrown automaker's premium hatchback was also spotted amid road-tests on various occasions in the past.

Earlier, Tata first showcased the 45X concept at the 2018 Auto Expo and the same served as the base for the close-to-production Altroz which was showcased at the Geneva Motor Show in March this year.

The Tata Altroz will be positioned as a premium hatchback which will rival the likes of Maruti Baleno and Hyundai i20, and will thus sport a fairly exquisite exterior design. It will be the second product in the Tata's line-up to be based on the IMPACT Design 2.0 philosophy, after Harrier.

In detail, it will make use of a wide and bold looking grille at the front which will be further complemented by its blacked-out dual-barrel projector headlamps. On the lower side, it will feature a beefy front bumper with large mid-set fog lamps. At the rear will sit a unique two-part boot-lid sporting a perhaps complex 3-D design.

Moreover, the sharp and angular tail lamps will connect by a translucent black appliqué, lending it a very edgy tail end design.

Inside the cabin, the Tata Altroz will make use of a dual-tone grey and black interior color scheme. While its flat-bottom steering wheel will sport silver inserts along with white stitching. Also, the Altroz will feature a much modern-looking semi-digital cluster and cruise control function, as revealed before.

The Tata Altroz has been built on the 'Advanced Modular Platform (Alfa-Arc)' which was developed in-house by the company. The same platform will also be utilized by all the sub-4-meter cars launched by Tata in the future. As for the mechanicals, expect the Altroz to source power from a variety of petrol and diesel engines.

The petrol units will comprise the Tiago sourced 84 bhp 1.2-liter engine and the 102 bhp version of 1.2-liter turbocharged petrol unit borrowed from the Nexon. Also, a 90 bhp version of the Nexon's 1.5-liter turbocharged diesel unit is rumored to make a way in the Altroz. The engines will come mated to a standard 5-speed manual transmission, while a DCT unit will be offered in the future.

The Tata Altroz is expected to retail in the price range of INR 5-9 lakh (ex-showroom).
