Telangana: Nalgonda collector orders action against hotel for cutting down 51 trees

HYDERABAD: A hotel at Chityala, 70 km from Telangana capital Hyderabad , has been seized by Nalgonda district authorities for cutting down 51 trees which were planted during Haritha Haram programme in 2014.


Nalgonda district collector Prashant Patil who inspected the place at Pedakapathi village on Friday directed officials to take action against N Grill hotel for cutting down the trees which had been planted on government land.



Action was initiated under the Water, Land and Trees Act 2002. Chityala tahsildar seized the hotel, and forest officials have booked a case against the hotel owner Nagaraju. The gram panchayat will also levy a penalty under the provision of the panchayat raj act. Cases will also be booked against the hotel management for cutting down the trees.

“We will not tolerate anyone cutting down trees. No one will be spared,” collector Prashant Patil said.
