Temple city to play host to junior athletics meet

Tirupati: Tirupati is all set to host the three-day national inter-district junior athletics meet (NIDJAM) from Saturday. This will be the second time the city will be hosting the event.

Chittoor district collector Narayana Bharat Gupta along with Tirupati SP Gajarao Bhupal inspected arrangements at the SV Stadium on Thursday.



Arrangements for biometric entry, food, stay and track, were completed and athletes were allowed to practice at the stadium on Thursday.

Help desks have been set up at the Tirupati railway station to guide athletes to the stadium and their hotels. Accommodation has been arranged for the athletes and the coaches who accompany them at 12 different locations.

Around 350 volunteers have been engaged to help the athletes during the three-day event.

About 2,578 male athletes, 1,794 female athletes and 469 coaches and other officials from 469 districts across the country will take part in the meet. Tirupati urban police wing has made security arrangements. Traffic diversions will be enforced between Saturday and Monday.
