Terrorist movement in South India: Tirupati cops search key areas

Amaravati: Police in temple town Tirupati carried out searches at important places following an alert sounded by the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) that four terrorists had sneaked into South India.

The alert said the terrorists were moving in guise of Hindus, wearing tilak and vibhuthi.

They were spotted last in Coimbatore on August 22, it was reported.

Tirupati urban police superintendent KKN Anburajan told the media on Monday that there is no specific alert for Tirupati and Tirumala. "There is no red alert sounded in Tirupati and Tirumala. We are carrying out routine searches. Devotees do not need to be worried," the SP said. "Tirupati and Tirumala are fully secure places. Nothing to worry," he told reporters. Searches are conducted at entry points into the temple town.

The police also alerted all important places in the pilgrim centre to check functioning of their CCTV cameras. It was found that some cameras at bus and railway stations were malfunctioning. The police said that they had written to the authorities concerned to rectify such cameras.
